Autumn in the mountains is magical. The crisp air smells of snow, the first peaks are covered in white, and the deer are bellowing. But the most fascinating thing about this season is the foliage, or rather the transformation of the forest from green to a palette of colours that fades from the dark green of the fir trees to the red of the beeches. But it is the larch trees that offer the best spectacle, turning golden, more beautiful than any jewel. On this excursion, we will have the opportunity to admire all these magnificent colours. We will walk mainly in the woods, where we can appreciate not only the colours, but also the scents and sounds of this fascinating season, before reaching a small village where the wooden houses blend perfectly into the environment and tell stories of a not-too-distant rural past. It will be a day of stories and fun as we discover a hidden corner of the Dolomites. PROGRAMME: Meet at 8.45 a.m. in Domegge di Cadore to start the day with a croissant at the Da Vià pastry shop. Final stretch by car and departure for the excursion. Return scheduled for 5 p.m. Length: 11 km Elevation gain: 850 m Elevation loss: 850 m Estimated walking time: 5½ hours. WHAT TO BRING: Comfortable shoes and seasonal mountain clothing. Water, snacks and packed lunch. Gloves and woollen hat. Backpack. Raincoat in case of uncertain weather.
